St. Tropez located on the French Rivera is a mixture of glitz and glamour with a lot of old world charm. This beautiful resort area was initially a small fishing village and military strong hold. During World War II it was occupied by the Germans, and was the first town on the coast of France to be liberated by the Allies.

After World War II ended the sleepy little fishing village gained attention from the rich and famous as artists of the Cinema began to visit the town to get away and enjoy a relaxing holiday on the sandy beaches of St. Tropez, dine on gourmet local food. After Bridget Bardot made a movie here in the mid 1950s, St. Tropez gained the reputation as a sizzling and sexy place to be and it soon became one of the “in” places for the rich and famous to visit and be seen and it wasn’t long until this one tiny fishing village was a popular vacation resort for the American and European jet set, including some of the brightest stars of Hollywood.

Today, St. Tropez is still a popular vacation spot of the A list movie crowd as actors such as Tom Cruise, Leonardo Di Caprio and Catherine Zeta Jones all love to vacation here amid the old world charm and modern sophiscation of that makes St. Tropez both a relaxing and exciting place to visit.

St, Tropez is a curious mix. While many of it’s beaches are perfect for families who want to enjoy a quiet seaside holiday, there are also clothing optional beaches, and secluded little beaches for those wishing to enjoy a bit of privacy.

There are eateries where locals and the common tourist can enjoy a good meal for a reasonable price combined with elegant and gourmet restaurants that cater to the rich and famous.

There is also a very hot night life, especially during the summer months where the stars can dance the night away and hob nob with princes and high rollers from the world of finance as well as from Hollywood.

While it is a great place for star sightings, St. Tropez is also a wonderful place to absorb a little of the natural beauty and charm of the French Rivera and the surrounding country side. Just a short drive from Nice and Cannes, St. Tropez makes for a great centrally located base of operations for tourists and stars alike.

Yet despite the star studded reputation of this coastal town, there is also a serene side to St. Tropez. It is a place where you can walk miles along sandy beaches, or wander through the cobbled lanes of the old fishing quarter enjoying moments or even hours of peace and quiet and what seems like endless sunshine.

Perhaps it is this mix of serenity and excitement that keeps the royalty of Hollywood returning to St. Tropez year after year, to relax, party, or simply enjoy everything this wonderful resort has to offer.
